Konu özeti
Ondokuzuncu yüzyılın başında , İsveç taşrasını dolaşan küçük bir tiyatro gubu Stockholm’un giriş kapılarından birinde resmi görevliler tarafından alıkonulur. Amaçları Dr Vogler adlı sihirbazın gösterilerini sergileyen grubun foyasını ortaya çıkarmaktır. Görevliler dilsiz olduğu söylenen Dr Vogler’den özel bir gösteri isterler. Böylelikle yaptıklarının toplum sağlığına zararlı olup olmadığını denetleyeceklerdir.
