Konu özeti
Norman (Normandiya'da yaşayan Frenk ve İskandinav kökenli halk) şövalyesi Jean de Carrouges ve Norman beyi Jacques le Gris eskiden çok yakın arkadaşlardır. Carrouges savaşa gider ve döndüğünde hiçbir şey eskisi gibi değildir. Le Gris, Carrouges'in karısına tecavüz etmek suçundan yargılanıyordur. Ancak kimse Margerite'e inanmaz. Bunun üzerine asker, karara itiraz etmek üzere Fransa kralına kadar gider. Hakim açısından ise Le Gris avantajlı konumdadır. Mahkemenin yeni kararına göre iki adam düello yapacak ve bu düellonun sonucunca biri ölecektir. Hayatta kalan kişi Tanrı'nın isteğini yerine getirmiş olacak ve eğer ki Le Gris hayatta kalırsa da aklanacaktır. Ayrıca eğer ki Carrouges kaybederse karısı ceza olarak bir kazığa bağlanarak yakılacaktır.

Lengthy and rich-looking period drama might have some great set and costumes, and an interesting enough storytelling style with three different viewpoints, I found this not terribly entertaining and everything felt empty and cold. I like Ridley Scott but this is one of his lesser outings. **2.5/5**
